Soberanes FIre                                                                                                             Prepared by:  Jen Croft
Forecast-21

Forecast conditions represent impacts from smoke from the Soberanes Fire wildfire.  Contributions from ozone and other pollutants are not reflected.
Fire:  Moderate fire activity today associated with backing fire along the southern edge towards the river drainage, and perimeter burnout operations to maintain the containment of the western flank.  Current perimeter is 79,000 acres, with 2,317 new acres. Current containment is reported at 60%.
Air Quality Today: Limited air movement paired with cumulative smoke impacts resulted in an increase in nighttime smoke impacts.  The Carmel and Salinas Valleys will not see significant improvement today as the deep marine layer returns and brings a light SW wind with it.  Big Sur will continue to be a pinch point for smoke emissions moving along the coastline, causing unhealthy conditions.
Air Quality Tomorrow:  Potential for clearing for areas to the North, but no significant improvement for the Valley areas as the cooling conditions limit the opportunity for smoke dispersal.
