Thursday, August 18, 2016 - #Soberanes Fire - National Weather Service Information

Overnight satellite and flight data suggests the Soberanes fire burned actively last night. In addition wind flow is southerly near the surface up to around 5000 feet. This is expected to bring smoke northward onto the Monterey Peninsula as well as into Santa Cruz and Santa Clara counties. Those that are sensitive to the smoke should plan accordingly and reduce exposure if at all possible. The image below is from an experimental model showing forecast smoke emissions for around 2 pm this afternoon. The model shows plumes from the Soberanes, Chimney and Bluecut fire (southern California). Feel free to post any smoke pics from your neighborhood.
