Sunday, October 2 2016 #SoberanesFire Smoke Impact Forecast 66

Forecast conditions represent impacts from smoke from the Soberanes Fire wildfire and other fires.  Contributions from ozone and other pollutants and other sources are generally not reflected.

Fire: Current fire acreage is 132,082, which is 13 more acres than yesterday. Current containment is 92%. Smoke production from the fire has been limited despite some higher winds thanks to cooler temperatures and increasing humidity.

Air Quality Today: Gusty winds out of the north or northwest are expected again today. These winds will encourage cooler temperatures and higher humidity than the day before. This will limit smoke impacts for the area, with sporadic periods of moderate air quality in the morning and nighttime hours. The community with the most impact is Pacific Grove, likely due to some contribution from Loma as well.

Air Quality Tomorrow:  Weather conditions and expected fire activity continue to favor limited smoke impacts. Pooling of minor amounts of smoke are expected in valleys and drainages overnight and early in the morning. This smoke may briefly cause somewhat degraded air quality, but most hours will be good.
