|||||
Fire: The Fire has
grown to 28,840 acres during the past 24 hours and remains at 20%
containment. Fire growth rate yesterday was similar to the previous day. The majority of fire activity remains along
the Western and Eastern perimeters. Firefighters
are continuing defensive firing along the West side containment lines where
increased smoke is expected today.
Air Quality Today:
Smoke
continues to drain in areas below active fire including Glennville and other low-lying
areas such as Posey and California Hot Springs. Smoke is expected to lift by
late morning in those communities. In
the Kern Valley, Owens Valley and Ridgecrest areas, localized unhealthy
conditions will persist where smoke is expected to settle into low-lying
areas this afternoon and persist into tomorrow morning.
Air Quality Tomorrow: Similar impacts as today.
