Air Quality Smoke Forecast
Issue
Date: 08/27/2016
Chimney Fire Prepared by: Ariane Sarzotti
Chimney
Fire (San Luis Obispo County)
- Official acreage reported is 45,008 at 51% containment with no reported growth in 24 hours.
- Last night’s Infrared flight shows a lot of scattered and isolated heat throughout the fire with little intense heat signature. An image of the IR map is included below.
- The fire continues to challenge control lines on the northwest and southwest fire line because of steep inaccessible terrain and drought stressed brush, chaparral, and dead timber.
- The main water supply for the Hearst property and Hearst San Simeon State Park remained threatened. The Hearst Castle and Hearst Castle Infrastructure continue to be threatened.

may change quickly, these projections are based on anticipated weather and

including individuals with Asthma, lung or heart disease, children, older
adults, and pregnant women should take precautions to avoid exposure to
smoke. If you feel as though you are having health effects from smoke see
your doctor or health professional as needed. In some cases your eyes are your best tools, if
it is smoky outside you are being impacted. Use caution when driving in or
around smoky areas.
