Friday, August 19 2016 Current Statewide Air Quality #WildfireSmoke #CedarFire #ChimneyFire #RayFire #SoberanesFire

Many areas across California are experiencing elevated levels of smoke.  Below is a map showing Air Quality Index (AQI) classifications of particulate matter 2.5 (PM2.5) across the state on 3pm today. Particulate Matter 2.5 are the small sized particles found in wildfire smoke and other forms of air pollution.  For current readings visit the EPA's AirNow Wildfire Page.  

See the table below the map for an explanation of the Air Quality Index (AQI) colors.

Moderate
Unusually sensitive individuals should consider limiting prolonged or heavy exertion.
Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups (USG)
People within Sensitive Groups* should reduce prolonged or heavy outdoor exertion. Everyone else may find relief by limiting prolonged or heavy outdoor exertion.
Unhealthy
People within Sensitive Groups* should avoid all physical outdoor activity. Everyone else should avoid prolonged or heavy outdoor exertion.
Very Unhealthy
Everyone should avoid prolonged or heavy exertion
Hazardous
Everyone should avoid any outdoor activity.
