Tuesday Afternoon - June 17, 2014 - Shirley Fire - Kern County

Smoke emissions are increasing on the Shirley Fire this afternoon  Afternoon heating and increasing winds  are causing some hot spots to flare up inside the fire perimeter . The picture below, taken from the web camera at Kernville at 3:43 pm shows the smoke emissions coming off the interior of the fire.

The 3-hour rolling PM2.5 concentrations are shown in the graph below, with the AQI health categories displayed in the background.  The data is showing that even though the smoke emissions are increasing, the smoke is not reaching Kernville.

Keep on eye on the Kernville #4 web camera and PM2.5 monitor concentrations at http://sierrafire.cr.usgs.gov/ for up to date information.
