The last of three remaining temporary
smoke monitors deployed for the Rim Fire were removed from service on Thursday,
October 24, 2013. As large wildfires with severe smoke issues in California
have greatly diminished, this website is not being updated as frequently.
However, with the record low
precipitation in 2013 and reservoirs at very low levels, the threat of a
large wildfire in many parts of California continues. November has unfortunately
been a time of disastrous wildfires in Southern California. The people and
agencies contributing to this site will continue to work behind the scenes and
bring important information to the public via this blog as warranted.
