Air Quality Report Issue Date: 09/10/2016
Soberanes Fire Time:
0700
Forecast- 44 Prepared by: Gary Curcio
Forecast
conditions represent impacts from smoke from the Soberanes Fire wildfire and
other fires. Contributions from ozone
and other pollutants are not reflected.
|
||||
Fire: Soberanes continues to moderately produce
smoke specifically along the southeastern side of the fire. Yesterday, burnout
operations were not conducted. Re-engagement of this operation will be evaluated.
Weather conditions did not support large fire runs. However several drainages
continue to burn and spread slowly. Current fire size is 103,847 acres with 605
acres of new growth. Containment remains at 60%.
Air Quality Today: The air mass will be less stable
and will support smoke column development. This can increase fire activity and
likewise increase smoke production. Surface winds continue to be light and
terrain driven. Transport winds will also be light with persistence to be
E/NE. The expected instability can reduce surface smoke. Lofted smoke will gently
spread to the W/ SW as well as SE along the coast. During the day Hwy 1 can experience
variable impacts. Big Sur, Tassajara, and Lockwood communities will be the
most affected while Cachaqua will have improved air.
Air Quality Tomorrow: Sunday is expected to be calmer and smoke
transport lazy. Smoke will gently spread and have a wider influence. Impact
to Salinas Valley (Soledad, Greenfield & King City) is possible .
