Wednesday August 31st, 2016 - #Cedarfire Smoke Report

Cedar Fire Smoke Report
Issued:  8/31/2016
Prepared by:  Josh Hall and Wendy Wagner

Forecast conditions represent impacts from smoke from the Cedar Fire.  Contributions from ozone and other pollutants and impacts from other fires are not reflected.
Fire:  Fire activity remains minimal with less than 100 acres of fire growth yesterday.  Total acres burned sits at 29,322 and containment has increased to 75%.  Firefighters have now contained the Western perimeter, yet isolated areas of active fire remain inside the containment line.  Along the Eastern perimeter, crews will continue to complete the containment line.
Air Quality Today:  Air quality conditions are steadily improving as a result of little smoke production during the past few days.  In the Glennville, Posey and surrounding communities that sit in the drainages below active fire, conditions are still in the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups category with periods of Unhealthy in the early morning hours.  In Kernville and North along the river valley, conditions continue to improve and are not expected to exceed Moderate.  Communities surrounding Lake Isabella, Owens Valley and Ridgecrest should continue to see improving air quality.
Air Quality Tomorrow:  Improving air quality.
