Smoke Synopsis:

Yesterday: The Air Quality (AQ) continued to be impaired due to late burnout operations and fire growth. Fire growth was estimated at 2,163 acres. At days end Big Sur was the most severely impacted area. Carmel Valley continued to have impacts that made AQ unhealthy for sensitive groups. The Salinas Valley communities continued to have impacted AQ but experienced improvement.
Today: Smoke impact is anticipated to be good for Carmel and northern communities. Early morning smoke is being experienced by some, but should improve. Burnout operation will continue on the eastside of the fire (Los Padres Dam area).  Increased smoke production has been factored into the AQ Table. Big Sur is expected to be unhealthy all day.  Carmel Valley is expected to be unhealthy for sensitive groups. Greenfield and King City will continue to have diminished AQ. Greenfield clearing possible in the evening and King City clearing possible early evening.  Lockwood area AQ will result in unhealthy for sensitive groups throughout the day and evening. Smoke will continue impacting San Joaquin Valley and Sierra foothills but to a lesser degree.  Northern San Luis Obispo County is now affected by smoke.
Tomorrow: The marine layer is expected to be less of a factor during the day which will allow continued warming and drying for Monday. This will influence an increase in smoke production from the fire and if burning operations proceed.
