Air Quality Report                                                                                             Issue Date: 08/16/2015

Cabin Fire – Sequoia National Forest                                                      Prepared by: Ariane Sarzotti

Forecast conditions represent impacts from smoke.  Contributions from ozone and other pollutants are not reflected.
Fire Information:  The Cabin Fire on the Sequoia National Forest saw more increased activity southeast of Peck’s Cabin near Griswold Meadow and to the north in the 2011 Lion Fire scar from 1:30 to 6:00 P.M. due to higher temperatures and lower humidity.  Fire behavior may continue to increase with continued higher temperatures and lower humidity through Monday.  As of August 14, the Cabin Fire is 6,672 acres.                                                                                                     Smoke Information: Smoke production was a bit higher due to higher temperatures and lower humidity. Smoke will continue to be produced from interior fuels being consumed as well as fire growth to the northeast.  Smoke may be seen in the Upper Kern Canyon to Kernville and into the Owens Valley in the evening and early mornings due to potential higher fire behavior.  Similar weather Monday should result in smoke generally traveling east and again settling in the Upper Kern Canyon to Kernville and the Owens Valley. Impacts to the San Joaquin Valley and Foothills from this fire should be minimal.
