Thursday, July 30, 2015 - More new starts, statewide.

Satellite observations from last night (7/29) show several new starts, the most significant of which from the smoke perspective (so far) is the Rocky Fire:

Monitoring around the state shows continued impacts in Colfax near the Lowell Fire, in North Fork, Mariposa, and other sites near the Willow fire, along with some new impacts in north part of the state in the Redding/Anderson area. More impacts may manifest as emissions from these and other new fires ramp up. Hot and largely dry weather is forecasted to continue in the north, though monsoonal moisture and some thunderstorms are moving into the southern Sierra.

Many mobile smoke monitors (triangles) have been deployed statewide in response to these fires. To find the data for monitoring at a site near you, go to http://smoke.airfire.org/monitoring/#/
