Today (Sunday), satellite analysis showed that though there was widespread haze from the Willow and Lowell fire (green), the moderate (yellow) and heavy (red), smoke densities from these fires were largely localized.
Recent research shows that, statistically, impacts to air quality at the surface, where people can breath it, are most likely to occur under these moderate and heavy smoke plumes and unlikely to occur under areas where these light smoke plumes are observed (Preisler et al., 2014).
