Sunday, October 15, 2017 - Central California Smoke Graphic

What Am I Looking At?  Sunday Version

Yesterday’s easterly winds, which pushed smoke toward the west, gradually swung around today clockwise, becoming southwest by late afternoon.  Napa area’s smoke (LNU Complex), which had been pushed out over the Pacific the last few days, returned aloft over the entire central portion of the state, while the main smoke plumes are now flowing to the east-northeast.

Smoke from the Lion Fire, which resided in high concentrations in virtually every area drainage this morning, ventilated out to the north this afternoon, while the late afternoon plume moved northeastward.  Residual smoke over the foothills was moving north midday, then became mainly stationary this evening.  Smoke production from the Lion Fire is expected to decrease dramatically this evening.
