Wednesday, September 7, 2016 #Soberanes Fire AQR Forecast #41

Air Quality Report                                                                     Issue Date: 09/07/2016
Soberanes Fire                                                                           Time: 0700
Forecast-41                                                                                Prepared by:  Gary Curcio

Forecast conditions represent impacts from smoke from the Soberanes Fire wildfire.  Contributions from ozone and other pollutants are not reflected.
Fire:  Yesterday the Gap Fire contributed smoke to our area and degraded air quality. Today, Soberanes moderate smoke production continues on the southeastern head of the fire. Burnout operations are planned on the southern containment line out to Anderson Peak in order to increase containment line depth. Current perimeter is 101,490 acres, with the same growth of 551 new acres. Current containment remains at 60%.
Air Quality Today: Today, the air mass is more stable. Winds will be light and terrain driven at the surface and transport winds will also be light. This will allow smoke to collect and pool in drainages and gently spread out over the area. Big Sur, Tassajara and Cachagua communities will be the most affected due to their proximity to the fire.
Air Quality Tomorrow:  With continued light and terrain driven surface winds, higher air stability smoke will be lingering and collecting in the area for the next few days.
