Air Quality Report Issue Date: 08/17/2016 Soberanes FIre Prepared
by: Jen Croft Forecast-20
Forecast
conditions represent impacts from smoke from the Soberanes Fire wildfire. Contributions from ozone and other pollutants
are not reflected.
Fire:
Light fire activity today associated with backing fire along the
southern edge. Current perimeter is
76,683 acres, with 666 new acres. Current containment is reported at 60%.
Air Quality Today: Persistence in the weather conditions will result some
cumulative smoke impacts within the Salinas Valley from Lockwood up to
Soledad. The smoke from the Chimney and
Sobranes is likely to converge and pool until later in the week when stronger
transport winds return to provide some clearing relief. Big Sur will see a small improvement in smoke
conditions as the offshore flow pulls the current smoke away from their
location for short periods of time.
Air
Quality Tomorrow: The backing fire will continue to provide
smoldering smoke impacts with small interior pockets that produce occasional
moderate smoke impacts that will drift towards the Salinas Valley and then
settle until a stronger transport winds provides relief to hazy conditions.
