Air Quality Report Issue
Date: 08/29/2016
Soberanes Fire Prepared by: Randy Striplin and Robert Elleman
Forecast-32
Forecast conditions represent impacts
from smoke from the Soberanes Fire wildfire.
Contributions from ozone and other pollutants are not reflected.
|
||||
Fire: Moderate to active smoke production today. Increasing
winds from northwest may increase fire activity and smoke production starting
this afternoon and lasting through tomorrow. Current perimeter is 92,314 acres,
with 512 new acres. Current containment is reported at 60%.
Air Quality
Today: Light
transport winds will initially be from the west, and then will shift to be
from the northwest and increase in strength by afternoon. After a smoky
period in the morning, air quality in Big Sur will improve midday. Stronger
winds may help dissipate smoke in Tassajara area, but expect degraded air
quality as compared to the past few days as smoke is transported in that
direction. Cachagua may start today with some smoke but should clear by late
morning.
Air Quality Tomorrow: Gusty northwest winds continue tomorrow. The Tassajara areas should expect
conditions similar to today. Big Sur and Cachagua should have good air
quality.

may change quickly, these projections are based on anticipated weather
and fire activity. Sensitive groups

adults, and pregnant women should take precautions to avoid exposure to
smoke. If you feel as though you are having health effects from smoke see
your doctor or health professional as needed. In some cases your eyes are your best
