Monday, August 22, 2016 - #WildfireSmoke Report for the #Cedar Fire

Cedar Fire Smoke Outlook
Issued on 8/22/2016
Prepared by Josh Hall

Forecast conditions represent impacts from smoke from the Cedar Fire.  Contributions from ozone and other pollutants and impacts from other fires are not reflected.
Fire:  Fire growth yesterday was again limited by increased humidity and an inversion that didn’t break, keeping most of the fire area blanketed in smoke throughout the day.  The fire grew to 19,629 acres and is 5% contained.  Slight growth occurred along the perimeter and heavy interior fuels continue to burn.
Air Quality Today: Impacts should improve in most areas today, especially in the Owens Valley where conditions should be good most of the day.  The most significant impacts will occur in areas near the fire, as smoke settles into low lying areas near Kernville.
Air Quality Tomorrow: Similar impacts as today.
