Wednesday, July 27, 2016 - From the NWS - San Francisco/Monterey #SoberanesFire

The Soberanes Fire in Monterey County is at 10% containment and has burned an estimated 23,688 acres as of Wednesday evening 27 July 2016. Area residents are encouraged to find more information from www.ca.fire.gov or from local officials. The smoke plume is impacting many parts of the Greater SF Bay Area on up into Nevada, and is expected to do so into Thursday. Winds are forecast to become west to northwest for the second half of the week, causing the smoke to push toward the southern Salinas valley and areas southeastward. Sensitive groups should take precautions to avoid smokey areas or are encouraged to remain indoors with windows and doors closed.
