Saturday, July 30,2016 #Soberanes Fire Smoke Impact Forecast #2

Smoke Impact Forecast #2                                                        Soberanes Wildfire
Air Basin: North Center Coast                                                                                CAL Fire IMT 4 w/ USFS
Issued for July 30th, 2016                                                                                        Prepared by:  Gary M. Curcio
Time: 08:00 AM                                                                                                                       Air Resource Advisor
Smoke Synopsis:
Wildland smoke production remains excellent but was less yesterday than projected. The fire size increased 2,186 acres. This is roughly half the growth experienced the previous day. The weather pattern and its influence are expected to be the same for today. Therefore, smoke emissions and impacts will be similar today as well. Most of the heavy smoke stays in the Coastal Range west of the Salinas Valley. The Valley and its communities will still experience periods of elevated smoke. However, the sea breeze combined with daytime up valley flow will move the smoke out. Light levels of drift smoke will continue to make its way into the San Joaquin Valley and Sierra foothills. The influence of a South/Southwest airflow remains and can still effect northern communities (Carmel Valley, Salinas, Hollister & Gilroy).

Air Quality Outlook: Each location can experience hours of poorer air quality. This occurred yesterday at many locations between 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
