Thursday, June 16 2016 Sherpa Fire smoke impacts Santa Barbara, Ca.

Smoke from the Sherpa Fire southeast of Santa Ynez , Ca has been impacting the communities near Santa Barbara today.  The image below shows PM2.5 concentrations at a monitoring station located in Goleta, Ca.

Smoke models indicate that the Santa Barbara area will continue to see smoke for the rest of the afternoon (pictured below).  The smoke plume is modeled to change directions during the evening hours and travel southwest out towards the ocean.  At this time, models indicate tomorrow's smoke transport to be centered over Lake Cachuma by the afternoon hours.
