Forecast conditions represent impacts from smoke.  Contributions from ozone and other pollutants are not reflected.

Smoke Synopsis:
The ridge of high pressure has begun to weaken slightly over northern California, which should start to allow some additional smoke dispersion late this afternoon into the next couple days.  Smoke plumes able to rise above the valleys will drift to the east and south on Thursday and Friday.  High pressure is expected to build a bit over the weekend again reducing smoke transport, then early next week winds may shift, becoming southwesterly sending smoke to the northeast.

Coastal sections should see a definitive increase in marine influence, which should keep smoke out of the immediate areas but may present a visibility problem on roads where moist marine air mixes with inland valley smoke.  The deep inland valleys are still expected to remain impacted with dense smoke through Thursday afternoon, although there may be some minor relief looking ahead to Friday.

Fire behavior remains moderately active, and may pick up a bit Thursday as the ventilation improves somewhat.
