Tuesday, August 4, 2015 - Cabin and Rough Fires from Space

Smoke can be seen from both the Cabin and Rough fires early this morning, as well as in the Upper Kern River Valley extending south from the Cabin Fire.  High level cirrus clouds are approaching from the southwest.

By 11:30 this morning, the cirrus clouds had moved over a good part of central California, moderating some of the fire behavior and blocking our view from the satellite.

In this image of the eastern Pacific Ocean, Tropical Storm Guillermo can be seen east of Hawaii, while high level cirrus clouds stretch all the way to California.  A disturbance west of Northern California is poised to move in on Friday and is being watched closely.
