Friday June 26th 2015 Lake Fire Smoke Summary


This forecast is for particulate matter (PM) caused from wildfire smoke only, ozone and other pollutants are not modeled. The presence of these pollutants can further degrade air quality beyond this forecast and are unknown.

Forecast for Friday June 26th  Smoke will travel downhill in the early morning hours, with the most intense impacts in the community of Morongo Valley. Towards the late morning, smoke will scatter broadly with potential visibility reduction along HWY 62 and greater reduction on HWY 247 near Landers and HWY 38 near Big Bear in the afternoon.  Late-afternoon smoke with travel in a northeasterly direction and impact Landers, Rimrock, and Pioneertown. By evening, the smoke will begin to travel downhill and impact Morongo Valley.
Forecast for Saturday June 28th Forecast for smoke impacts are similar to the previous day although smoke may stay more localized bringing slightly less impacts to Landers.  Downslope movement of smoke in the nighttime hours will continue around the Morongo Valley.
