Smoke from a new fire, the Bridge fire, in the Ponderosa Basin area just north of Oakhurst is traveling north due to SW flow, and is likely to affect the Mariposa/Oakhurst/Yosemite area over at least the next couple days. The official Calfire link is here, or follow on social media at #BridgeFire.
Below is the MODIS Satellite Image from Friday (9/5) in the afternoon, overlaid on Google Earth, with existing smoke monitors labeled in yellow with red place-marks. The weather forecast calls for south/southwest winds through the weekend, which will likely keep points south of the fire relatively clean, with areas north east of the fire most likely to be affected (e.g., El Portal, Mariposa, and Yosemite Valley).
