In this image of northern California and southern Oregon, the coastal clouds are visible as the bright white areas offshore and moving into the coastal valleys. Smoke trapped in the valleys of Del Norte, Humboldt, Trinity and Siskiyou Counties can be seen as a somewhat distinct gray color, while the hazier gray area is smoke aloft which has been moving to the east and impacting some of the northern Sierras, including some areas of Tehama, Plumas, and Lassen Counties.
